2022 Deschutes + Wickiup Cleanup

After putting this cleanup on hold for a few years due to the pandemic, we are thrilled to have partnered with BlackStrap. Based in Bend, Oregon the company has been one of our longest and most dedicated sponsors.

We are proud to partner with BlackStrap, not only because products are made in the US. The company actively incorporates both mindful manufacturing and environmentally conscious practices.

As our first out-of-state cleanup, our team loaded up a van and road-tripped to meet the BlackStrap team at the Wickiup Reservoir - which the Deschutes River fills. We chose this location because we heard some local groups had recently cleaned up the section of the Deschutes that runs through Bend (always exciting to hear of other efforts to clean up waterways!).

The Wickiup Reservoir is heavily used for recreation and the BlackStrap team knew it would be a great place to host our Saturday cleanup. Not to mention, the low water levels allowed us to pick up hard-to-access trash along the shorelines.

We hosted over 60 people who picked up 800+ pounds of garbage in just a few hours. The BlackStrap crew cooked hot dogs for lunch, and as always we gave out prizes from our incredible 2022 sponsors.

Thanks to all who supported and made this first-time event one for the books!

Thank you to these generous sponsors: Pale Blue Earth, Laird Superfood, Redington, Fly & Field Outfitters, Umpqua, Kea Outdoors, Indian Summer, Rising Fishing Tools, Brighton Anglers, Schwood, and Korkers.
