2021 Green River Cleanup w/ GROGA

For the second time we rallied the troops and combined forces with the Green River Outfitters and Guides Association (GROGA) to clean up the A section of the Green River below Flaming Gorge Dam..

Roughly 140 volunteers packed into dozens of boats and rafts to float the 7-mile stretch to Little Hole.

For the most part the river was fairly clean but, the most common things we found on the river were personal hygiene products.

Did you know toilet paper can take 5 weeks or more to biodegrade, depending on whether it’s been buried or not. Kleenex would theoretically take a little longer, if using ones that are thicker than toilet paper. Wet wipes take around 100 years to decompose. Dog poop bags biodegrade in around 10-20 years. Overall, it seems things take a long time to decompose and you should consider stocking wag bags in your boat for when nature calls.

After a full day of fun picking up river trash and a little fishing we made our way over to dripping springs campground for a casting contest, a barbeque, and as always a give away of a bunch of great gear from our generous sponsors. It was incredible to see all the people who were willing to take a weekend and give back to such a beautiful place.
