Join us for our Mirror Lake Highway & Uinta Lakes Clean Up. – Saturday, September 6th, from 9AM to 1PM

Hosted by FishWest Fly Shop in Kamas, this cleanup is your chance to give back to the Uintas. Spend the day outdoors, remove trash, connect with fellow stewards, and win some great prizes while you're at it!

Collect garbage safely in provided bags and exchange it for a BBQ lunch ticket and entry into our prize drawing. The more trash you collect, the more tickets you earn—and the better your chances of winning gear from our generous sponsors. We'll supply garbage bags, gloves, and water stations. To help us reduce overall waste, please bring your own reusable water bottle.

Schedule:

  • 9AM–12PM: Cleanup

  • 12–1PM: BBQ Lunch

  • 12:30PM: Prize Drawings & Awards
    (You must be present to win. Organizers, sponsors, and their family members are not eligible to win prizes.)

Priority Cleanup Zones:

  1. Soapstone Basin

    • Frequent dispersed camping and day-use traffic

    • Trash around pullouts, fire rings, and creek access points

  2. Washington Lake / Trial Lake Area

    • Popular with campers and anglers

    • Overflow trash near bathrooms and picnic areas

    • Litter seen along trailheads and lake shoreline

  3. Mirror Lake

    • Heaviest foot traffic of all zones

    • Litter around the day-use area, shoreline, and trailhead parking

    • Needs detailed cleanup including under trees and rock ledges

  4. Small Lakes Just Off the Road (e.g., Crystal, Lost, Moosehorn, Teapot)

    • Pullout access often used for unofficial camping

    • Trash tends to collect in shoreline brush and under makeshift fire rings
